Many law firms offer diversity fellowships or scholarships to law students. These are excellent opportunities for students to work as summer associates in either their 1L or 2L summer, gain real world experience, build connections within the firm, and all in addition to receiving funds to help offset the costs of law school!

We encourage you to view this list as a starting point for your research. As you are reviewing the websites of firms you are interested in, always be sure to check whether they offer a diversity fellowship/scholarship.
We also offer an Excel spreadsheet with this information so you can sort items by deadline, award, or position type.
Who are the firms looking for? Make your argument, Counselor! If you believe you can bring a diverse perspective to the firm that will help them better serve their clients, then tell them why.
Here is a typical answer from one of the firms on our list to the FAQ about what constitutes diversity for these applications:
Q. I’d like to apply for the diversity scholarship, but I’m not sure whether I am considered a “diverse” candidate.
A. We ask that each scholarship applicant identify in the application how they will add to the diversity of our Firm. We do not place any restrictions on what constitutes diversity; it is open to the applicant’s interpretation. However, students who are members of populations historically underrepresented in the legal profession are encouraged to apply.
As you dig into the links below, you will see that most of these opportunities request applicants to submit an essay (or two) addressing the diverse perspective they will bring to the firm.
