Sustaining Families: Global and Local Perspectives
June 14-16, 2012
The University of Iowa will host “Sustaining Families: Global and Local Perspectives” on June 15- 16, 2012, as the fifth annual meeting of the Midwest Family Law Consortium and a North-American regional conference of the International society of Family Law. More than 40 scholars from the United States as well as Australia, Canada, Italy, Mexico, Poland, Russia, Serbia, and Spain will present papers on topics including cross-border family relationships, assisted reproduction, parental responsibility, state interventions into and support for family life, special issues concerning adolescents and elderly family members, and comparative approaches to marriage, divorce, property rights and mediation.
The keynote speaker for the conference will be the Honorable Mary Sheffield, Circuit Judge for the 25th Judicial Circuit in Rolla, Missouri, member of the International Hague Judicial Network.
