RULES

Check-out
All books and other materials must be checked-out before removing from the Law Library or taking to a study carrel.

Exits
The only exit from the Law Library is the main door on the second floor. All other doors are fire emergency exits that will set off an alarm.

Technology
University of Iowa students are governed by the University Acceptable Use of Information Technology Resources Policy. Computers, printers, and networks (e.g., Internet, HawkMail and Remote Access) are to be used primarily for support of University of Iowa academic and work-related business.

Food, Beverages & Tobacco
Eating, drinking, and smoking - or chewing - tobacco are prohibited in the Law Library. These activities interfere with the proper maintenance of the library facilities and its collection and, hence, are impermissible. Please help us maintain this building and its materials for future users. A canteen is located in the law school for food and drink, although smoking is forbidden throughout the law building.

Cell Phones
Cell phone use is limited to the Law Library stairwells to ensure that other library users are not disturbed.

Paging
The Law Library does not have the ability to page persons or to deliver messages.

Closing
Vacating the Law Library by closing time is mandatory. Library hours are posted at the main entrance. Warning chimes are sounded fifteen minutes before closing. Please plan to leave the library shortly after the chimes sound to facilitate closing of the library.

Group Study
Space for group study is limited in the Law Library. Two areas are available; one is at the east end of the government documents section of the Law Library on the Ground Level. The second area is at the west end of the government documents section. Groups must observe the "no food and drink policy" at all times.

Behavior
Activity or behavior that is considered distracting or disturbing to other patrons is not permitted. Threatening or dangerous behavior will be reported immediately to the University of Iowa Department of Public Safety.

Lost and Found
The Law Library maintains a lost and found service behind the Circulation Desk. Personal belongings - other than notes or papers - left in the library will be placed in the lost and found and held until the end of the week. Items not claimed by the end of the week will be sent to the University of Iowa Lost and Found in University Capitol Centre.

Tables
Law Library tables are for general use and will be cleared daily by staff members. Papers left on tables at closing will not be saved.

Keys
Keys to carrels, if lost, will be charged to the user at $10 each.
