RESEARCH ASSISTANTS

Training
The Research Assistant's Guide to the Library FAQs and Tips (118KB PDF file*) is a useful guide for training RAs. Also, the Reference Librarians offer special research instruction to faculty Research Assistants (RAs). Specialized instruction saves RA's time and ensures that faculty members receive thorough bibliographic research. Contact Ted Potter to request Research Assistant instruction.

Printing
If a Faculty RA needs to do computer printing on behalf of a faculty member, the faculty member's secretary must call the College of Law ITS office to obtain a Faculty RA ID and password.  Once the account has been created, the secretary must prepare a blue requisition form with the cost center number and a dollar amount for printing that will be charged to the appropriate faculty account. The requisition form should be taken to the library. When the circulation staff member receives the blue requisition, money will be deposited in the GPAS (network printing application) to the Faculty RA ID account.

Copying
Faculty RAs may need to copy materials on behalf of faculty members.  Copicard accounts may not be assigned to faculty research assistants.  However, copicards may be purchased with a blue requisition form at the Law Library Circulation Desk in the amount of $5.00, $10.00 or $20.00.
