DIRECTIONS & PARKING

Building

The main entrance to the Boyd Law Building is located on the south side of the building at the end of Melrose Avenue. The entrance to the Law Library is accessible from the second floor of the Boyd Law Building, which is the main level. Building elevators are located in the center of the building near the main entrance; the Law Library has its own separate elevator inside the library. All restrooms in the building are wheelchair accessible. For more information, contact the library at 319-335-9002.

Directions

The Boyd Law Building is located on the bluff west of the Iowa River/Riverside Drive. It is at the end of Melrose Avenue on Byington Road near Hillcrest Dormitory. Melrose Avenue and Byington Road are one way streets at this location.

University Transportation

The Cambus system serves the University and downtown areas of Iowa City at no charge. The "Red Route" and the "Blue Route" stop on Grand Avenue near the Boyd Law Building.

Parking

Metered parking is available south of the building. There are eight coin meters across the driveway including one handicap accessible space. The maximum time allotted on these meters is two hours. You must bring coins with you; change cannot be made anywhere in the Boyd Law Building.

The five meters directly in front of the building do not accept coins. They allow for 15 minutes of free parking by pushing the button on the meter. You must push the button to trigger the courtesy 15 minute period or you may be ticketed by Parking Services.

Additional hourly-rate public parking may be found in the Field House Lot, west of the Boyd Law Building on the corner of Melrose Avenue and Grand Avenue. Lot 34 immediately south of the Boyd Law Building is a gated lot restricted to law school personnel and eligible law school students. Lot 31 adjacent to the Boyd Law Building loading dock is restricted to law school personnel at all times.

Driving

From Des Moines, take I-80 East to Iowa City; take exit 239 South (Highway 218); take the Melrose Avenue exit heading east; continue on Melrose Avenue until you reach the Boyd Law Building at the corner of Melrose and Byington; turn right into the Boyd Law Building driveway.

From Burlington, take Highway 34 West to Mount Pleasant; follow 218 North to Iowa City; take exit 91, for IA-1/Iowa City/Kolona/Village Museum, turn right onto IA-1, turn left onto Riverside Drive; continue on Riverside Drive; turn left onto Grand Avenue; follow left lane; turn left onto Melrose Avenue; continue on Melrose Avenue until you reach the Boyd Law Building at the corner of Melrose and Byington; turn right into the Boyd Law Building driveway.

From Muscatine, take Highway 22 West; follow to Highway 70; take Highway 70 North to Highway 6; follow Highway 6 into Iowa City; turn right onto Riverside Drive; turn left onto Grand Avenue; follow left lane; turn left onto Melrose Avenue; continue on Melrose Avenue until you reach the Boyd Law Building at the corner of Melrose and Byington; turn right into the Boyd Law Building driveway.

From the Quad Cities, take I-80 West toward Iowa City; take Exit 242; turn left onto 1st Avenue; continue south on 1st Avenue; turn left onto Melrose Avenue; continue on Melrose Avenue until you reach the Boyd Law Building at the corner of Melrose and Byington; turn right into the Boyd Law Building driveway.

From Cedar Rapids, take I-380 South (also U.S. 218 South); continue south on Highway 218; take the Melrose Avenue exit heading east; continue on Melrose Avenue until you reach the Boyd Law Building at the corner of Melrose and Byington; turn right into the Boyd Law Building driveway.
