Symposium

On February 13-14, 2009 the University of Iowa College of Law and The Journal of Corporation Law will host a symposium entitled "Invention, Creation and Public Policy."  The principal subject will be how to use the legal system to encourage innovation.  The three panels of distinguished academics from several law schools will focus on the law of patents and copyright as well as competition policy (antitrust).  Symposium articles will be published in The Journal of Corporation Law Volume 34, Issue 4.

The panels on patent and copyright will be concerned with how those systems can be improved so as to encourage creativity within their respective domains.  The topics will include legislative design, statutory interpretation, Constitutional law, economics, and public choice.  The panel on competition policy will be concerned  with how the antitrust laws should best be applied in innovation intensive markets where IP rights are also present.
