Through its symposium format, the Journal of Transnational Law and Contemporary Problems (TLCP) examines problems of international, comparative, and transnational law from an interdisciplinary viewpoint. Recent issues have focused on topics such as the environment and the global food regime, with articles contributed by authors from all over the world. TLCP also publishes "living history" interviews with international figures, and prize-winning essays from an internationally-advertised student writing contest.

TLCP also has an active student writing program for second- and third-year writers. Each student writes one paper over two semesters; several papers are selected for publication each year. Students who complete the writing program are eligible for selection to TLCP's editorial board. TLCP editors receive academic credit as well as a monetary stipend.
