The purpose of the Federalist Society is to foster critical thought and debate about the application of conservative and libertarian principles to the law. The society will promote, advocate, and defend its founding principles and further their application through its activities. This goal entails reordering priorities within the legal system so as to place a premium on individual liberty and the rule of law. It also entails restoring a recognition of these principles among law students, faculty, lawyers, and judges.
