Professor Yin joined the College of Law faculty in 2002. After graduating from law school, he clerked successively for the Honorable Edward Rafeedie of the United States District Court for the Central District of California, the Honorable William J. Holloway, Jr., of the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, and the Honorable J. Clifford Wallace of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He then spent three and a half years as a litigation associate with Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP in Los Angeles, California, focusing on employment discrimination cases and white collar criminal defense.

He teaches courses in corporate crimes, national security law, constitutional law, and federal courts.  His areas of research include constitutional issues arising out of the global war on terrorism.  In 2006, he was selected to receive the University of Iowa's James N. Murray Award, which recognizes an untenured faculty member for teaching, research, and service.
