Professor Baldus joined the law faculty in 1969. Prior thereto he was in private practice in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Specializing in Criminal Law and Capital Punishment, he is the co-author of two books: Statistical Proof of Discrimination (Shepards-McGraw Hill, 1980) and Equal Justice and the Death Penalty (Northeastern University Press, 1990) and numerous articles. The principal focus of Professor Baldus' scholarship is on law and social science. In that connection, he has conducted several empirical studies of the administration of the death penalty in America.
