A Message to Those Starting Law School in August 2008

Dear All - We remain very eager to have you join us here at the University of Iowa College of Law! Many of you have expressed concerns about flooding in Iowa City and its impact upon the University and the College of Law. The College of Law is high on a bluff and was not affected by the floodwaters of the Iowa River. Our home here at the College is secure and appears to be in good shape. For the University and the community, the flooding has caused a good deal of damage along the river - particularly at the arts campus. Some bridges and roads are closed so traffic is somewhat congested and indirect right now. There are challenges ahead as the University and the community emerge from the flood. I am impressed by the resilience and ingenuity of those here in Iowa City and on campus. I am sure that the situation when you begin your first day will be much improved from what it is today. The next few months also hold within them (almost a silver lining) opportunities to serve and to assist in the community's recovery from these events.

I hope that you will remain in touch with our Admissions Office by email or at 319-335-9095 (beginning June 23rd) if you have further questions or concerns.

My very best to all of you. I will see you soon!

Dean Jones
