Amidst the large university setting, the law school feels surprisingly cozy and intimate. The unique character of Iowa City and Iowa is reflected in the law school community—students, faculty and staff work alongside each other in a relaxed, friendly, cooperative and collegial environment.
The College Community Each year, approximately 220 first-year students enter our J.D. program and 15 foreign-trained legal scholars and practitioners enter our LL.M. program, preparing to join generations of professional and civic leaders who have shared a unique law school experience that develops analytical skills, independence of mind and keen personal integrity. Students, alumni, faculy and law school staff organize a number of law-centered events each year, including numerous lectures and conferences.

The Iowa City and Coralville Community Iowa City is the ideal place to study law. It is centrally located between five major Midwest cities, yet it is insulated from the stresses of larger cities, free of urban distractions, allowing scholars to focus on their work. Campus and community are side by side, making it easy to get around by foot, bike, or an efficient bus network.
