Requirements: Juris Doctor degree and two or more years experience as an attorney, with exposure to a variety of sizes and types of practice. Experience in career services, counseling, alumni relations and/or professional development training in a higher education setting is desirable. The successful candidate should have demonstrated the following qualities in past experiences: strong interpersonal skills, organizational ability, prompt follow-through, writing proficiency, initiative, high energy, attention to detail, strong work ethic and an ability to work independently.
Duties: Duties will focus on outreach to potential employers in the public and private sectors in geographic areas most appealing to the law students. Travel and attendance at legal functions and career fairs will be required. Duties may also include coordination of the on-campus and off-campus interview programs and other responsibilities as directed by the Associate Dean for Career Services. Some student counseling and educational programming will also be components of the position.

Position: Director, Middleton Center for Children's Rights, Drake Law School - Des Moines, Iowa (commence 2006-2007 academic year - renewable contract)

Requirements: Possess a strong record of clinical teaching and scholarship, administrative skill, and a commitment to public and professional service.
Duties: The Children's Rights Center features four distinct program components: 1) an interdisciplinary clinical program; 2) a Training Center; 3) a Resource Center; and 4) public policy/legislative initiatives. The Director will teach the children's rights clinical class, work with Drake's School of Education and the University of Iowa School of Social Work to further interdisciplinary collaboration, and will supervise students' work on clinical cases. In addition, the Director will continue the Center's legislative reform activities in conjunction with the Drake Law School's Legislative Practice program and will help plan conferences or workshops in furtherance of the Center's Training Missions. The Children's Rights is part of Drake Law School's nationally recognized clinical programs. The direct client service, clinical program incorporates social work, counseling, and graduate education students. Other aspects of the Center include: legislative/policy work; Training of social work, lawyers, judges, and other child welfare advocates, and a resource center.

Position: Clinical Faculty Position - Clinical Legal Education Program - Immigration Clinic, University of Houston Law Center (academic year 2005-2006)

Factors to be considered in assessing the academic record include: rank in class, selectivity of the J.D. degree granting institution, participation on law review, participation in clinical courses, and participation in other co-curricular activities. In addition, applicants must be licensed to practice law and have at least two years of involvement in alternative dispute resolution. Experience should include mediation training and practice. (For Clinical Associate Professor rank - Five or more years of law school or law school clinical teaching, some in the ADR field; advanced ADR practice and training skills ... at least some of which include mediation ... and demonstrated achievements in scholarship.) PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Post-JD degree in clinical legal education or dispute resolution, or an advanced degree in an ADR-related area. One or more years of law teaching experience. Duties: Clinical classroom instruction. Clinical field work supervision. Research and publication of high quality. Service to the larger community -- the university and the public. Committee and other service activities within the School of Law. The ADR Clinical Assistant or Clinical Associate Professor (hereinafter professor) will teach and supervise the ADR Clinical Program. This program is one of four clinical programs and is an elective law school course for third year law students. All clinical programs are directed by Mary Rudasill, Associate Professor of Law and Clinical Director. The ADR Clinic is a 3 credit course, offered fall and spring semester for 4-8 law students per semester. These students mediate each week in local small claims courts and handle referrals for mediation from the campus and community, also mediating those cases. Law students enrolled in the clinic also observe family mediations and other ADR experiences in the community. The professor trains the students to mediate and supervises the students during mediations. Additionally, the professor orients the students to the clinic and meets in class sessions weekly conducting additional learning experiences, simulations, and "rounds" - type discussions of matters mediated or observed.
