Eric W. Lam and Abbe Stensland (2012) ($73)
Bankruptcy in Iowa (Second Edition) is written by Eric W. Lam and Abbe M. Stensland, who are attorneys at Simmons Perrine Moyer Bergman PLC, in Cedar Rapids and Coralville, Iowa. In 1992, Eric published the first edition of the book. In the 20-year span since the first edition, the Bankruptcy Code has been amended several times by Congress, most notably in 2005 with the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act (BAPCPA), which significantly changed the landscape for consumer debtors who seek Chapter 7 relief. This second edition briefly discusses the effect of the 2005 legislation. This edition also highlights the impact of developing caselaw from several Bankruptcy Judges who serve Iowa, particularly in the areas of exemption, dischargeability, and objection to discharge.
