Passports and other Documents

Participants who do not have a valid passport should apply for one promptly. Please note that visas are not required of U.S. citizens for entry into France in connection with stays of less than 90 days. If you are not a U.S. citizen, you should contact the French Consulate at once to determine what steps you may need to take in order to obtain a visa to enter France. Do not delay.

Participants who plan to travel in Europe are advised to carry an International Student Card (in Iowa City, these cards are available at the Office of International Education and Services, 120 International Center, Iowa City, Iowa 52242) or through Council Travel.

The University of Iowa requires participants to sign a document releasing the sponsoring institution from liability. Such a form is included with the application material for this program, and students should sign and return it with the application. You also must sign and return one copy of the General Conditions for the Iowa Program.
