Application Deadlines

The 2009 program will run from May 16 to June 19, 2009.

Applications should be filed before March 1, 2009. Late applications may be accepted at the discretion of the program director. Applications must be accompanied by a registration fee of $250, which will be applied toward the academic program fee.  This fee is refundable until March 1, 2009. The remainder of the program fee of $5150 is payable on or before April 24, 2009. Checks should be made payable to the University of Iowa College of Law and be sent to Professor Adrien K. Wing, director of the Iowa Summer Abroad Program, College of Law, University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa 52242. The program will be limited to approximately 45 students. The program is open to law students outside the University of Iowa College of Law. In the past several years, 0-7 students who have participated in the program have not attended the University of Iowa. Students are encouraged to apply early as the program may fill up well before the deadline.

If a student will be accompanied for all or part of the program by a non-participant, a separate fee will apply for housing and program activities.

A security deposit is not required. Repair costs for any damage to the housing for which you are responsible will be billed (to your U-bill if you are a University of Iowa student).

Applicants will be promptly notified of acceptance into the academic portion of the program. Those applying for the clerkship program will be notified of their status as soon as possible after application.

Those wishing to apply for the clerkship program should make every effort to apply by February 1, although late applications will be considered subject to availability.
